„Mit dieser Initiative soll die Erfahrung Kanadas geteilt und die Einführung ähnlicher Modelle in anderen Ländern unterstützt werden. Oberstes Ziel ist es, den Flüchtlingsschutz zu erhöhen, indem das Mitgefühl mobilisiert wird, das Gemeinschaften auf der ganzen Welt empfinden.“

Co-Designing Sponsorship Programs:

A Step-by-Step Workbook for Policymakers and Community Leaders

GRSI Policy Design Workbook Mockup

Launched in February 2021, the GRSI Policy Design Workbook is intended to guide policymakers and community leaders wishing to establish refugee sponsorship programs through a core set of policy questions. The Policy Design Workbook is the outcome of the GRSI’s experiences over its first four years of operations working closely with authorities and civil society organizations worldwide. It aims to supplement initial workshops for the design of community sponsorship programs, and to stimulate decision-making around core policy settings underlying community sponsorship programs (with more nuanced details to be worked through at later stages).

This tool can be employed in conjunction with the GRSI Guidebook, which elaborates on the many decision points summarized in this workbook with practical examples of how these questions have been answered by the world’s longest-functioning community sponsorship program: Canada’s Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program. The GRSI is also available to provide bilateral support, to connect you with relevant experts in other countries, to facilitate tailored follow-up workshops, and much more.
